Another Week of Home Learning - May 25th -29th

As we conclude another week of learning from home, I have to congratulate all the hard working students of Division 13 for keeping up with all the weekly activities.  It is not always easy to work when there are so many distractions around us...the t.v., video games, our toys, and brothers and sisters around!   But, most of us continue to read daily and send me your recordings,  And I am continuing to get a lot of math, spelling and writing posts in myBlueprint. Good work everyone!!  Keep it up!

Math...

Our “toy search...can you see 6 toys?  Scroll to the bottom to see the answers!

This week’s ADST Challenge.  We LOVE our weekly challenges!

We have so much fun playing with this.  Even our parents love to play with it!!

We also were asked to do some "self reflection" and share 2 things we are very good at and something we think we could get better at...

And, with the end of another month, we wrote out and illustrated our May poem...

I am so impressed with all the writing everyone is doing on their own!  Well done writers!

And... here is the answer you are all looking for....  (the "ball" was a very close guess!!)

Here they are!

Learning from Home - Week of May 19-22, 2020

Hello again everyone.  I hope you are all staying well and keeping busy at home, with both some school work, and also with other kinds of learning and fun activities with your family!  I also hope you are all trying to be mindful of how much time you spend on your computers and iPads or Tablets when NOT doing your online work?  I am finding that I sometimes have to spend ALL DAY on my computers, doing work!  It is not good for my body or my eyes!!  And it is NOT GOOD FOR YOU either.  So, please try to limit yourself to just going on screen for school work and then to maybe just  a half hour a day on the weekend (if that is okay with your parents!) for free time.   Try it if you aren't already doing that!

Okay... Here is some of the great work that some of you posted in myBlueprint!  I think it is wonderful that we can continue to see what our friends are doing.  Happy reading!

For some of us, this was the first time we did a Sudoku puzzle!  It was fun!  And many of you asked for more.  Thank you for telling me that!

Our ADST challenge this week was to build an airplane using paper and a straw!
Everyone was challenged to test out different designs to see which design flew the best and the furthest!  I received some great videos!  Thank you!

It is especially wonderful for me to "hear" what you are thinking about these challenges.  So many of you are writing and "reflecting" about the things you are doing at home. Good learners are the ones that are always thinking about what they did, what they liked, and even how they can improve what they have done! Good for those of you who are doing that everyday!

Another activity this week was to get everyone to think about how they feel about learning at school and from home...

And finally, thank you to all of you for working so hard keeping up with your math and spelling.  And thank your parents for giving you the weekly spelling test!

I just know, that with everyone trying their best and working so hard from home, when the day comes that we can go back to school again you are going to be so ready for what is ahead of you!

💖
Take care everyone

Learning from Home Continues... Week of May 11-15th

Here we are - another week just "flew by"!  I am so proud of all of you and all the hard work everyone is putting in at home to continue their learning.  Reading is happening and I am getting to hear all the voices as you send me the recordings.  I see many of you doing work in the math booklets sent home, the spelling booklets, writing your OWN poetry and all kinds of creative writing is happening as well!   I also love to see the work you are posting in myBlueprint - the drawings, the photo and the videos!! Thank you all for taking responsibility for your learning, and for completing all your assignments with your best efforts.  Keep up the great work Division 13!

One really fun activity this week was "Can You Find the Toys"
There are 6 toys hidden in amongst the lettuce!  Can you see them?  (See below at the end of this post for the answer!)

Here a couple of our answers

We made windsocks...

We took care of plants..

Lots of math is happening...

And lots of writing is happening...

We are helping with the cooking...

Here is what the hidden toys were! Did you see them all??
